1st sneaky look Rolled out

Well here we go with the project now it has arrived in London east end. The dock storage area is no longer there. It looked like it was about to fall down any way.Once we got clearance to load the cars we got to have our first look at them. My heart was racing I can tell you. Bank loans and what have I done!!! going through my head at the time. Also here is a picture of my 912 which I bought at the time. You can see why I kept the car now. When you looked over the 912 it really was a tired looking car but solid. Very solid.

Nose damage

Loaded up

Best thing I did was keep the 912 and do the car up. As you can see in the pictures the nose has got damage to it. It is a long story how this happened, it was my worste nightmare. The cars where ready to be picked up and the truck drove in the area to collect the cars. It was a large truck and it was not allowed in a residential area and was turned away. He did try later that day but the Police turned him away again so they got left on the side of the road!! Later the shippers sent in a smaller truck and he got one loaded but not the other.

The 912 Not a bad car. It was the last guy who turned up to collect the car that damaged the nose of the car when he loaded it. I have heard he just let go and it stopped by using a nose as the brake!!!!! Then to add insult to injury he loaded it in a way the straps damaged the sides of the car and then another car on top bashed it's wheels in the front wings!!! If I ever catch up with him. ******
Stationary M25 Devils Punch Bowl Once we were loaded up and on our way back it was very odd watching people almost crash their car as they went past cranking their necks to have a look at the two cars on the back of the truck. At one point we were stopped on the M25 ( no really stationary on the M25 !! ) And we were chatting with fellow motorists. People where taking photo's. I was very proud. The deal could have gone so wrong. But here we are driving back with the two cars. By this time I had changed my plans to sell off the 912 and keep it.
Cool pic On my Drive at last

It was too good to sell on the 912 .

Now the car is on my drive all the way from Fresno California to Hampshire UK. With only the nose and a few panels having a few dents. I have to say a big thanks to the ladies at the shippers Direct Express in Ca for all their hard work. I would use them again and a later story...... I did a few more times.

Here are a few pictures of the car once I got it home. It really did seam like this car had indeed been in storage for over 28 years. I am so glad the last owner did nothing to it and when he moved house took the car with him and stored it in a dry place. The car looks like it could be a nice restoration and I am looking forward to doing it. Nice little touches are the glass washer bottle and cage complete and intact. The half horn ring and the horn button
Have a look at Part two when I start to work on the car.
